I have long been a fan of the Remington 185 grain +P loads in my 1911 pistols as back in the day (1980’s) it was the only reliably feeding hollow point in 1911’s on the market. Now I find that this load is producing close to 1100 ft./s in my Sig Emperor Scorpion Carry Commander and right at 1000 ft./s in my RIA BBR 3.10 compact. Wow!!! Excellent performance in short barrel 45 ACP pistols! And zero malfunctions! My Sig is a standard barrel, frame-feed-ramp-to-chamber .45, and the BBR 3.10 is a integral feed-ramp fully-supported barrel. The Sig is, well it’s a Sig… super reliable with a wide variety of quality magazines. However I have heard the haters say the BBR3.10 supposedly is finicky and gives some folks trouble. After hundreds of rounds through mine with both 10 and 14 round Mec-Gar magazines and no malfunctions, I can tell you it absolutely ROCKS these Remington loads. And you can FEEL the power of the +P velocities with still excellent control and with very little muzzle flash …. even out of the ported BBR 3.10 barrel! I carried Federal HST +P 230 grain (EXCELLENT load) on duty as a deputy/detective with KCSO in my issue G21. It worked great in that gun however my recent experience has shown disappointment in velocities out of the Commander, Officer’s Models and micro compact .45’s. The Remington 185 +P on the other hand, has delivered stunning performance even after accounting for the lighter bullet weight! The Remington 185 +P is now my EDC load both in town an
