Vortex Golden Eagle HD 15-60X

Written on Dec 07, 2016

First let me start by saying I am a huge fan of Vortex Optics! Their scopes are good, their customer service is great! I own several scopes from Nightforce, March, Weaver, Burris , Leupold, and Vortex. I shoot rimfire benchrest and I mostly shoot at 50yds but sometimes 100yds depending on the match. If you are looking for Nightforce quality, buy a Nightforce scope. Please do not think you are getting the same quality because you are not. I was so excited when I found out Vortex was making this scope! So excited that I bought 2 of these and had the funds ready for a 3rd but stopped at 2. Sorry Optics Planet, I did not purchase the two scopes from here only because they were out of stock with a long back order. I have one of each reticle. I know most people would think I was crazy for buying a 60X scope for 50yds but believe me, the targets we shoot are very small! But, the fact is, the 60X magnification on this scope is useless if the target picture is blurry. I can't get either scope to focus at 50yds above 40X. I can get much cheaper scopes like a Weaver T-36 for less than a third of the price and get a clearer picture at 50yds. Don't get me wrong, I am not bashing Vortex here. These are awesome scopes! Just not for rimfire benchrest as Vortex advertises it. Probably better suited for F-Class centerfire shooting. Below 40X these are some of the clearest glass I've looked through. Equal to my Nightforces and better than my March's! But, I bought them for their 50X-60X range a
