SurvivalHiker from United States, MI Public Profile
To my surprise I got 4 of these one with each pair of 5.11 tactical pants!! I was able to apply them all to another pair of boots I needed for hiking no problem! So thanks optics planet for never letting me down!
First off I'm a former Army Medic so rucking and carrying weight are nothing new to me. Since my discharge I've become a huge backpacker so I rely on good quality boots and go through almost a pair a year. I bought this pair on some recommendations from people I know.
That being said the quality and construction are A+ built to last. However here are the drawbacks. HOT HOT HOT your feet will be soaked in sweat after about 2 miles if not sooner. Also the composite toe while great will develop a hot spot even if you have a half size larger (thank you duct tape). I'm also not sure if this is a defect but I'm getting massive pain in the outside of my left foot only while wearing these boots it worsens with elevation changes. I bought new insoles same thing. Something about my left boot I can not find the problem. They were broken in while wearing wet two days back to back and treated with baseball glove leather treatment.
I didn't get this pain when I got them so I took them out for a 15 mile day hike only to come home limping (after I wore them for 2 weeks and breaking them in) I'm debating contacting Reebok directly to see what the problem may be.
But again quality is outstanding, they are HOT and I think I just might have a bad left boot.
I've never been a fan of a foregrip before even when I served. However this one has the nice feature of a pop out bipod. The item is built solid and seems like it's going to last me in many conditions. However the problem I have with it is if it's resting on anything smooth it's like your rifle is sitting on ICE it slides. I'm in the process of finding a good material to pain over the ends of the bipods to stop this. However put it on grass, sand, dirt etc. and it's good to go!
The other con is it's HEAVY! I already have a Burris optics system that adds considerable weight to the area above the mag and trigger this almost helps even it out but the rifle overall weight is much heavier. The other thing I'm not to sure on is I've installed it properly and tightened it all the way but there's still a little tiny sway back and forth in the grip when it's closed. Upon examination it seems this is caused by the hinge the bipod uses. But I do enjoy it shooting prone or on a bench.
Each leg can be moved to any size along its length. Which is nice if you find a good perch for hunting and one side needs support and the other barely does.
All in all a fair product nothing super great nothing super bad. I think if they make a few more versions I'd opt to buy again to see the improvements.
Cheap, high quality ready to attach. Does what it needs to do. Be sure to use the proper tool to get your stock off!Once everything was put back together I staked it all together. This works great with my BlackHawk STORM Sling RS.
For the price it's great just don't forget you need a Sling adapter. BlackHawk also makes one at a reasonable price. Together this sling is easy to go from rifle to side arm fast. The quality looks and feels like I won't need another sling for a long time.
I've never bothered with optics on my AR due to the Army teaching me how to shoot. So I was very adamant on finding something that would work for me while giving me a little bit of magnification. Once I zeroed this optic in it's a rare shot i'm not dead center at 300yds. I've not had a chance to try anything higher in my area but 100yds presents no problem nor does the 300yds using the sight properly. It is heavy though it did add quite a bit of weight and because the eye relief is so small I had to mount it at the end of my rail over the trigger and mag. Not a problem it gives me a feeling of iron sites.
The red/green illumination work but I typically stick with the dot off and use the built in black sights unless it's dusk or early morning. I will say this if you turn it on 5 it's TO BRIGHT even 4 will give your eye that ghost image when you look without the optic.
A great belt, solid tough material. Serves it's purpose it holds my pants up. The only thing I don't like about it is it's more difficult to tighten than say a standard issue Army belt the plastic seems to hinder the belt from moving easily through it but I never have to adjust on long trips.
Also this over some of the other belts provides an easy tourniquet due to the fact it doesn't seem to slip out.
