As mentioned in title, I had purchased this as an upgrade for a gen2 Chiappa Pak9. The stock rear notch sight they come with is barely functional at distance without painting dots on them (semi-reflective polymer that glares in sunlight) which is a shame, because even with its short barrel, the Pak9 itself is surprisingly precise with the right ammo - even at 100yds. Adding this rear sight to the Pak9 has been a difference of night and day. I’d even go as far as saying it’s practically essential if you want to get the most out of the Pak9 (and probably a lot of other AK pistols too)
The headline essentially says it all. This little attachment gets the job done - dug it into multiple surfaces once I attached it to my rail and it remains sturdy. I’ve had mine for almost a year on a pistol build and with the addition of a couple type 1 magpul m lok covers behind it, it functions as a top-notch hand break as well.
Overall, I do think this is a great handguard. Easy to install, and dang does it look good! The only gripe I have is that the pic rail DOES NOT fully match the dimensions of the Aero upper I have it attached to. The Trybe rail is a bit thicker, and the result is that my iron sights need to be adjusted to compensate for the slightly cross directional alignment between the front and rear sights. Fortunately, the difference in alignment here is minor enough to where I can still zero my irons - albeit with my rear aperture pushed far to the left. This is not an issue with the iron sights themselves, but with the size difference in rail width that forces my front sight to sit slightly to the side of the absolute center. All that aside though - it probably fits the Trybe upper perfectly, and the machining is excellent overall. Definitely gives a semi-sci-fi feel to my lightweight pistol build while remaining sturdy.
Does it or doesn’t it? The answer is that is absolutely DOES fit the C308. The problem is that some people may not feel comfortable wrenching the nut down to fit - but this is really no different from most of the AR free-floating handguards that clamp-on to the barrel nut. Once tightened to the point where the front no longer wiggles - you may have some wiggle in the back end by the receiver, but this is also normal for the initial fitting. If you have wiggle in the rear, you just need to loosen the nut and use a bit of loctite around the lip of the rear portion of the handguard. Apply a bit of force when fitting it back in, and then tighten the heck out of the nut until there’s no more wiggle. I used blue loctite to secure mine around the receiver about a month ago, and I have had absolutely no issues with it coming loose. Furthermore, the m-lok slots are well machined - no issues with attachments either!
