I chose this side charging handle because I needed an easier way to charge the rifle with a scope that made it difficult with a normal charging handle. After I installed the Devil Dog unit, I could tell it was made very sturdy. Due to the Picattinney brace, the handle was stable and held in place like a rock. I'm using a Spinco 308 orange spring, which makes charging a little harder. Using this side charger made it easier.

If I were using a red dot that could be mounted farther forward on the upper, this system would be ideal. However, I'm using a thermal scope that needs to be mounted as far to the rear as possible. The added Picatinny brace required for the side charging handle occupies the mounting location for my scope. I tried using a riser to go up over the brace, but the ones that work are way too high for my liking. The low-profile risers would not fit over the brace. I ended up just removing the charging handle and going back to a difficult charging system.

I have had this rail-mount laser from Holosun for about a year, during which time I have had ample opportunity to evaluate it. It holds zero with no issues. I chose the green laser, and it is very bright during the day, using a day-reflective site. I like how small it is. However, the only issue I have is that the battery is exhausted in about 30 days with no use, just stand-by time. I have a few other lasers on other guns and I periodically check them. I have a SightMark green laser that has had the same battery in it for two years and it's still working. So, having a battery go dead after 30 days just in standby mode is not very good for a Holosun product, I would expect more from them.
