Worthwhile Upgrade

Written on Dec 07, 2019

I was hesitant to install this trigger for two reasons. First, some of the prior reviews on Timney's website indicated that there were interference issues with the stock, but I did not find this to be true with my 2019 X-bolt Pro. No modification was required. Secondly, the factory trigger group locks the bolt closed when the safety is engaged, and Browning includes a button on the bolt handle that allows you to open it while keeping the safety engaged. The Timney trigger is not compatible with this button. After installing the Timney trigger, the bolt will not be locked closed if the safety is engaged. The bolt will be free to open, which could allow it to come out of battery while hiking around the woods. In the end, I decided that the improved trigger was worth losing the bolt locking functionality, but I am only giving 4/5 stars for this reason. Lastly, Timney does not allow you to post a review on their website unless you purchase direct from them.

Great Fit for Performance Center 629

Written on Oct 26, 2018

I used this for a week long hunting trip with a S&W #170334, and it worked great. My shoulder was a little sore after day 1, but the rest of the trip was no problem. My only critique is that I wish it had a hammer thong (like Diamond D Leather offers) instead of the retention strap & snap for a quieter release.

Poor Design

Written on Dec 03, 2016

It seems as though Browning did not actually try using this case with a BLR Takedown rifle.

First, the outside pocket is stitched on the same side as the inside pockets. Therefore, you do not have access to the outer pocket if you lay the case down on its side.

Secondly, the internal barrel pocket is positioned in such a way that your eyepiece / ocular lens may interfere with the zipper.

Finally, the barrel straps are not positioned well, nor are they long enough. I barely have 1/4" of engagement between the hook & loop (i.e. Velcro) fasteners.
