Nice knife but...

I ordered two of these knives and one of them was finished, but the other one looked as if it had not been inspected by a quality control person. Basically, the knife still had buffing compound on the bone handles and the rivets were not dressed properly. The bolsters also needed to be buffed and the Boker emblem was loose in the box as well. The most time consuming flaw to correct was the scratch in one of the blades. I don't have the know how or equipment to remove the scratch and then take the finish to the mirror like state that it has when the factory finishes the blades.
Anyway, I also got two other Boker knives (different models) and they both had scratches on the blades. These knives all seem well made, but I think the quality control could be significantly improved. They arrive with the blade edge ground but it is a rather course grind. They benefit from honing. (That is common.) The knives are sturdy and look like they will provide a long service life. The factory warranty is minimal and probably not worth using unless the knife really falls apart. I suspect that Optics Planet would back the purchase better than Boker.
One more issue: The handle of the knife does not look like the photo in that it is much redder. At least both of the copperheads that I received were that way. I would really prefer a more subtle treatment as is shown in the illustration.

DeSantis Right Hand Tan Speed Scabbard Holster
Written on Feb 25, 2016
I ordered this holster for a Springfield XD Mod2 4" 9mm pistol. Springfield customer service assured me that any holster made for the equivalent XDM or XD would work, and it does. On first impression, I thought the the leather was cut rather thin, and the holster seemed too tight for the gun. However, once I had formed it by placing the gun in a plastic bag and inserting it in the holster overnight, the fit issues were pretty much gone. It is adjustable as well, so the width can be customized to some extent. I found that by working the unloaded gun in and out of the holster (while sitting on the couch watching TV) that the draw and re-holstering got very smooth and easy. The holster holds the gun tightly and you can even turn it over and shake it without it letting go even though the draw is smooth once you work the leather some. What was surprising, but after looking at the design makes sense, was that once strapped on, the holster became much tighter on the gun. This is because your belt forces the holster into a more curved profile and narrows the opening. The width of the holster can be adjusted to remedy this. All I am suggesting is that the adjustment will change once you strap it to your belt. Speaking of that, the photo shows the holster canted forward which is very cool, but I found that a more vertical angle allowed for a better draw. I am using the lower front slot. Also, it is possible to mount this holster in cross draw position, but it doesn't reall

High quality, heavy duty window mount

Nikon Window Mount
The Nikon window mount is a very high quality, well built window mount that will handle most cameras and spotting scopes. It features a quick release for removing the optics from the mount with a flip of a short handle. The mount itself, remains attached to the window.
The instructions include a precaution about using this product which for me limited its application. It is suggested that one must be careful not to break the window. Part of the restriction includes recommendations not to use the mount while the vehicle is in motion.
There is one additional issue. Although the tripod head swivels 360 degrees horizontally and around 175 degrees vertically, there are no fine adjustments. All adjustments must be done by hand and with a high powered spotting scope, this is not always convenient or effective. However, the adjustments are very positive and the tripod head moves smoothly. The locking mechanisms work as expected and once they are set the tripod head stays put.

Light weight table top tripod does the job.
Written on Jan 03, 2015
The Burris Spotting Scope Micro Adjust Tripod & Window Mount arrived promptly new condition. It was well packed. On first inspection the tripod seemed well made and everything worked perfectly. In the short time I have had it, no defects have been observed. The construction is solid and the locking mechanisms and the micro adjustment feature both work as they are intended. The tripod is light weight but solid and stable. It is slightly heavier and larger than the tripod that comes with the Redfield scope. The center elevation post and the legs are metal. Although the tripod is light weight, it supported my Redfield 20-60x spotting scope with no problem. I found that panning with the micro adjustments which move the scope horizontally and change the angle of elevation was a pleasure. The movement was smooth and the adjusters worked easily with no play.
On this tripod, the head of the instrument is clamped onto the tripod base. This provides for gross adjustments in angle and allows for the head to be moved off of the tripod and attached to a car window or surface of similar thickness. The the tripod itself has a metal plate to which the head is attached with the threaded pressure foot. There is no tripod mount on the main tripod. The tripod mount is integral to the removable head. At first this seemed odd to me but as I thought about it, I realized that this design provides for more flexibility in use. Not only can you move the head to another surface (like a
