A must for A5 builds

Written on Jul 16, 2020

DHD is a sister company to V Seven so you know it’s a quality part. Lightweight and a nice finish. This and the V Seven versions are the only enhanced A5 tubes I’ve seen and this was a good deal cheaper. The extended lip is also chamfered instead of a straight cut which is a nice touch. The A5 length of course makes the biggest difference in terms of recoil but the extended & chamfered lip will help stabilize carrier travel a small amount.

Flexibility and Aesthetics

Written on Jul 16, 2020

Of course the quality is very good and I personally find it aesthetically pleasing. The ability to use either 45/90 is nice but the main the reason I like this part is that it dovetails on and clicks in with spring detent rather that a screw. It’s not any more difficult to install or uninstall.

Works as you would expect

Not so long it creates binding and it doesn’t stick out so far that it gets snagged. Only thing I will mention is that you should install the button and then function check it with a mag before you put the extended piece on.

Niche part might not be worth it

I had the same issue as another customer. Spring was all bent up and unable to be used. Baggy was sealed. Didn’t return it because that would’ve been a hassle, so I just bought another spring while ordering other stuff. The little tool provided is barely able to keep the pin down as it’s basically the same width as the retainer pin and was very awkward to try n use. It’s pointless and doesn’t help at all. Index finger works better. The pin itself is nice and when paired with an “enhanced” buffer tube with a lip it fits nicely. It seems ever so slightly wider than the other two mil-spec pins I have and it’s of course a longer horizontal shape vs a vertical cylinder. I imagine those two aspects help stabilize carrier travel a smidge by engaging the carrier earlier and with a more precise fit. This may ever so slightly decrease wear over the lifespan of the weapons system(I’m talking literally thousands upon thousands of rounds here). BOTTOM LINE: If they fix the spring issue and you’re building a system with other small improvements above the typical mil-spec then you might as well get it. Also, if you have their SCS then this will hold it in which is the main intention of the part.
