Leupold VX-1

Written on Jan 16, 2016

I bought two of these for my brothers for Christmas. They are Leupold scopes and as expected very great clarity and quality for the price, which was excellent.
After using them on my brothers guns (Remington Model 7 and Marlin 336), I will be considering one of these for my own rifles in the future.

Surefire 6PX Defender

Written on Jul 11, 2015

I have had many Surefire flashlights over the years and none of them have been anything but excellent. This one is no different. I bought this light to use as an EDC or weapon mounted light because of its single power output. I have two other Surefire flashlights with dual outputs which are both excellent but when using them with a weapon I decided a single output light would be better for that purpose. The only cons for this light as also pros: the bevel around the light end is great for striking but it is murder on clothing - not a light I would recommend carrying in your pocket regularly. Also, it is very bright, which is a good thing but if you are planning to use this light in doors for target identification it can be a double edged sword as it is very easy to self-blind on white walls or mirrors with a light this bright. These two were not issues for me as I have attached it to a rifle.

TL;DR - Surefire makes a lot of good lights, this one is no different but be sure you buy a light that suits your own needs.
