I've been very pleased with this unit. It nails-down something 800 yards distant just as fast as 60 yards, and the 4/sec scan gives clear feedback when you're not holding it on a distant target steadily, as the readings will fluctuate, so you really know what you're looking at even though the circle reticle covers 10 feet at distance. The optics are clear, and the internal display is always readable. The only drawback, and this is a minor one, is that they opted to use a CR2 battery: would it have killed them to accommodate a CR123 and have compatibility with many more devices out there? I would gladly have a longer battery-cap to accommodate the 123, if inside space is that tight. But overall, this is a FINE unit. Buy one...you know you want to.
Very near-IR, but BRIGHT (so to speak)

This unit is made just like the visible-spectrum TLRs, although with no markings other than an IR indication between the rail attachments. What bears mentioning is that a faint red glow is visible from the LED when looking at an angle, and the reflector is fully red when seen from straight on. That said, the output is impressive, so much so that usage inside a room will wash-out most details. 70-foot trees 30 yards away are illuminated brilliantly, and there is no shortage of output. The reason for 4 stars rather than 5 is because of the glow, which is visible. Were this farther towards the IR end, it would be better, but you can't beat the output at this price-point.
