Jp .936 adj gas block

Written on Mar 22, 2018

I have to be honest , I expected a lot more from JP when it comes to an adjustable gas block . In order to adjust you have to back off the set screw from the front then adjust a screw counter clockwise from the right side of the block and are completely dependent of an Allen screws position for air bleedage then you have to go back through the front again and tighten up another screw which tightens against the adjuster screw to insure the adjuster screw doesn’t move . Also once you install the gas tube you have to take a 6/32nd tap and tap the adjuster screw hole to thread the gas tube as well since it obstructs the adjuster screw hole . I’ve used dictator gas blocks and have never had to go through the nonsense of tapping holes to ensure the gas tube itself is treaded nor do you have to release a set screw to adjust the adjuster screw then tighten up a set set screw once your gas block is set . It’s a real pain to adjust under a floating hand guard being you have to release a set screw from the front then adjust it from the side then come back through the front again to tighten a set screw which they recommend has thread lock on it . It just seems like they could have come up with a design that’s far simpler which could have a click adjuster with like 9 or so settings instead of just unscrewing a screw and not really knowing exactly where you are when adjusting .
