Best option for Mini14/FastFire combo
Written on Jun 20, 2026
I think that most Mini14 owners use a Samson or Ultimak rail if they want to add a red dot to their rifle.
Since burning my hand on a Samson rail, I went back to the standard handguard on my Mini.
The Burris FastFire mount provides a low, clean option for mounting the tiny sight on the existing mount that is built into Mini14 Ranch and Tactical rifles.
Exactly what I was looking for.

Excellent for the price.

I wanted the retro look, but was not interested in spending $100 or more.
This stock is perfect for my needs.
I'm not as anal as a lot of guys about minor looseness.
This stock has some wiggle on the buffer tube, but no more than my 3 MOE stocks.
I seriously doubt I'll need to worry about stock rattle getting me shot while I'm sneaking up on an enemy.
It is made in the USA which is a plus, and seems very rugged, especially given the <$25 price point.
I don't mind the large Made in USA logo, but to each his own.

Review for
OpticsPlanet Exclusive Franklin Armory BFSIII AR-C1 Trigger - Binary Firing System for AR Platforms
I installed the BFS 3 in 9mm Colt mag lower with a long 7.5oz buffer and a carbine spring. I kept the trigger and hammer springs that were installed out of the package. Controlled pairs are easy so is running through an entire mag in a few seconds. In the second mag I seemed to outrun the trigger once. Went through 4 more mags between myself and another shooter with no issues at all. One problem with steel cased ammo out of 192 rounds of mixed steel and brass. Not bad! The single shot trigger is much nicer than mil-spec and binary mode puts a smile on your face. I watched a couple of YouTube videos on installation and then it took about 30 minutes to install and do the safety checks. Glad I made this purchase!!
