The last line of my review SHOULD READ: withOUT stopping the locking lug on the mount from operating.
Sorry. I hit the send button too soon, and then found out that you can't edit it.

It is called a Sacrificial Window on purpose. It is supposed tot take the punishment and protect your lens. Have a spare in your kit.

This is one of those "absolutely must have" items. OK, your new PVS 14 came with one, and If you are lucky, it is attached to your device with a cord, BUT......I have snagged the cord, ripped out the hole, and lost the cover. Spares are hard to find in the field. I put this in my kit and bring it with me. You really need this as a spare if you are in the woods with you PVS. Terrorist tree branches are waiting to get you.

SUPER piece of equipment. I use it on my bump helmet to mount an IR illuminator. Absolutely solid mount with really easy to use "pull and rotate" system. I can adjust the illuminator for reading a map (yes, I am that old school,) to looking into the secondary tree cover in the heavily wooded terrain I normally move in, to looking straight ahead for open terrain movement. I love this mount, and I have two of them.
Optics Planet is the only place I've ever found this item. Call their GREAT sales staff for all your night vision needs. They really are THE BEST.

This is the no nonsense way to mount your PVS 14 to your helmet. You can spend hundreds more for "Tactical" mounts, but this gets the job done just fine.
There will be a small "wobble" with the PVS 14 attached. Don't crush the mounting hand screw, that's not where the issue comes from. This is actually a designed in feature that, once you have completely and correctly adjusted the PVS 14 to your eye, will go away thanks to the flexibility of the eye cup. After I tried it, I actually didn't mind the "wobble" because it allowed me to look through the lens from slightly different angles and expand my overall field of view.
If you really can't stand the "wobble," which might be an issue with the PVS 14 in the up position, there is an easy fix. Take one of the spongy "Pluck-To-Fit" pieces that you kept from making that custom fitted case for you favorite rifle, and fold it in half and insert it into the female end of the bayonet adapter for the J arm, with the open end facing out. Make sure you insert it far enough so that the locking lug in the female side will still work. Push the two ends together. Make sure the locking lug is fully engaged, and you should see a big improvement.
This is a solid piece of gear, that is one of those really big cost effective items for your kit.

This was the mount that the GREAT Optics Planet equipment specialists recommended for my new PVS 14, to be paired with a J arm. It works great. Solid construction, and easy to use. Unless you want to spend another thousand dollars to get a complete "tacticool" mount, this is the way to go.
There will be some "wobble" with the J arm. This is designed in, and will disappear once you get the J arm properly adjusted to you eye so the eye cup is taking up the slack. The "wobble" actually makes seeing through the lens easier because it allows you eye to be in slightly different positions whenever you want. Try it, and you'll be OK with the issue.
You can get rid of the "wobble" by loading the female side of the bayonet mount with one of the sponge "pluck out" pieces that you took out of the gun case that you bought for your favorite rifle. Just fold it in half and push it past the locking plate so that the front of the male side of the mount on the J arm goes into it, with stopping the locking lug on the mount from operating.
Another great piece of gear from Optics Planet.

I already have a green phosphor PVS 14, and was wondering if the increased cost for the white phosphor was worth it. Answer: Absolutely YES!
My eyes really see a difference in definition and clarity with the white phosphor over the green, especially when I'm moving over heavily wooded terrain in the mountains. This makes avoiding obstacles, especially the close up terrorist tree branches and ankle crushing rocks, stand out. It also show IR sources and animals, better than my green phosphor, which is important for stock protection.
One on the best Armasight features, very low tech, but very well thought out, is the heavy cotton cord neck lanyard. A perfect solution for keeping the device anchored you your body, even when it get knocked off your mount. It also keeps the protective lens cover anchored to the device so you don't have to look for it in you pocket, where you are certain you put it. I have transferred this to my other PVS 14 as well.
Make sure you call the GREAT Optics Planet sales staff to discuss your purchase to get the best deal. They will also set you up with their product specialists to make sure you get the right mount for you needs.
