Very nice adjustable gas block with click adjustments

Written on Mar 28, 2017

I ordered two of these for two of my rifles. They didn't have the Anderson logo on the side like it shows in the pics, but that doesn't matter because they are both going under free float handguards.

These use a spring and detent to keep the adjustment screw from walking. The adjustment screw has four grooves or "flutes" along it that the detent secures into. The adjustment was very tight on both of them to begin with, like it was stuck from being in storage, but once I "unfroze" it, it turns and operates fine.

It has 4 clicks per full revolution of the adjustment screw, and a total of 24 clicks from stop to stop (full open to full closed) for a total of 6 full revolutions.

I would recommend this item and plan on using them on future builds.

Needed some work to fit properly

Written on Feb 25, 2017

The tube I received would not go all the way into the gas block. I tried it in two different blocks with the same problem so knew it was the tube. Figured there was a burr on the tube at the gas hole so I smoothed it a bit with a fine file.

Once that was done and the tube would go all the way into the block, I had problems getting the roll pin all the way installed. The hole didn't fully align on one side with the hole in the block. It was off very slightly which kept the pin from going that last little bit. Filing the outer leading edge of the roll pin so it was a bit pointed allowed it to be fully installed.

A very light and well built handguard

Written on Jan 21, 2017

Very light and installs easily. Includes everything you need minus the torque wrench. The top rail lined up perfect with my Anderson upper and the finish matched perfectly also. To keep it in-line while tightening the bottom screws, I moved my red dot forward so the mount would clamp onto both parts of the rail and keep it from moving while tightening. After tightening the bottom screws I moved the red dot back. It also has a good anti-rotation design, which seems much better than their previous G2 models.

I like that the top rail isn't a full length rail. I don't mount anything on that whole section anyway, just the end, and this makes it more comfortable to hold with my thumb wrapped around the top and no rail edges to have to worry about. There are M-lok slots along this top section in case you want to mount something using that type of mount.

Also, note the length. It's called a 10" but actually measures 10.5", which worked great for my setup, but something you might want to check before ordering this length. The 9" model is actually 9.25" and the 12" model is actually 12.625".

Bottom line, this handguard is a quality piece that you can feel!
