Solid construction, slight rattle
Written on Oct 25, 2024
This is a sturdy and heavy duty brace when you are looking to outfit your pistol with a high quality option. The side to side folding gives you additional options which is why I selected this one. It's going on a CMMG pistol. Normally I'm not a big fan of the folders, but this one is compact and stays out of the way giving you room to operate the firearm and not making it super chunky. It has two buttons to initiate the side folding, and you press down on the brace to fold it back into the braced position. There is a slight rattle when fully extended, but nothing that bothers me. Just mentioning that as it is not as stable as a fixed brace when locked.

Review for
Carbon Killer Gun Cleaner
I use the 15oz as a baffle soak for persistent lead and power fouling, but it's not going to magically make your can shine. Wipe and brush off everything you can first. I then spray it with brake cleaner and repeat. If I have any fouling that won't scrape off, soak for 1-2 days and try scraping off the deposits again.
I had a Gemtech 22 can that has always been hard to clean. I ran it too long between cleanings and noticed bad deposits in the corners and groves. I scraped off everything I could, and some parts would not yield. I let the tub and baffles soak for a week, and I was able to get 90% of the deposits out. They flaked out with a pick. (Make sure to wear eye protection.) I soaked another couple days, and everything else came off with a brush and pick.
Once clean, I lightly coat the tube and baffles with Slip 2000 gun grease or high temperature automotive thread grease. Make sure to put thread grease on the can's threads before assembling. This will dramatically reduce your cleaning time. The first shots will smoke a lot, especially if gooped on too thick.

Great option for defense
Written on Jul 15, 2016
This scope is bright and crystal clear. The reticle makes close range target acquisition very easy. At 1X, this is a viable sight for close range defense. The 6X offers better accuracy for target and longer range shooting. 1-6X adjustment ring is tight to start, but very smooth. I paired this with the higher cantilever mount for easier mounting and to get the scope above a fixed front post.

Best close quarters sight for the money
Written on Apr 05, 2016
You'd be hard pressed to find a better defense sight below $600. If you've done your research, then most of what I have to say will be pretty common. This sight has an etched reticle so that it works perfectly in fully daylight and without batteries. The reticle itself is by far the best I've used to com on target fast. A single red dot or low power scope takes a lot longer to center. Your eyes and aim draw naturally to the center. I bought the 1X because this is a combat sight. Any magnification makes it too hard to scan with both eyes open.
The sight itself is very small, light and well designed. It comes with flip caps, and the base can be adjusted if you want one to ride low. With the high base, it is perfectly co-witnessed with my front fixed post and rear Magpul MBUS. I was able to mount the sight forward on the rail to get the best site picture. Unlike my experience with cheap red dots, holographics and EOTech, I have not noticed any reflection or glare for the back glass. I bought this after getting tired of seeing a reflection of my eye on the sight I thought I was going to use.
It took a little longer than a scope to get sighted in, but that is mainly because of my old eyes. With any dot sight, the dot itself covers too much of the bullseye at 25 yards, so it takes a little extra effort to get it centered down to the last click. You can use this sight with a rear iron sight, but I'd use the wider aperture for defense. The sight is parallax free, whi
