Works intermittently

Written on Jul 21, 2023

Good price and shipping. No problem with Optics Planet. The product is the problem. I installed it in a 10/22 with a polymer trigger housing. There are a few youtube videos, both from FA and others, that show the install. The videos are way easier than the written directions included. I watched a couple to get a good understanding of what I was doing. It was slightly more complex than installing an AR trigger, but if you're comfortable with that and don't rush it, this does not need a gunsmith to install. None of the videos that I found are precise in regard to what parts should be left over when the installation is compelete, so I triple checked what was left on the workbench. There are 8 functions tests FA requires before firing. I did these both with the trigger housing separate and installed in the gun. #8 was finicky for me. The trigger does not consistently fire on the release while in binary mode. It will sometimes release the hammer and sometimes stop it from striking the firing pin.
My issue is discussed in several forums and youtube videos, and the 2 solutions provided are to trim the trigger return spring and/or grind down part of the safety selector. Or TRY a trigger housing made by FA (no guarantees it will work) for another $100. The trigger is already more expensive than the gun itself, so no thanks to the new housing. Having a part that is more expensive than the base firearm, and then having to grind away metal and absolutely ruin any chance of a return or

Watch the YouTube video for easy install

Written on Aug 12, 2022

Easy install for a moderate handyman with a little patience. Loading the trigger bar into the trigger is the hardest part. Watch the Apex made videos and you can do it. It is a big improvement over factory trigger. Shorter pull, great tactile and audible reset, snoother all around. Be sure to oil as directed and do 200 round break in and you will be happy with it.
