Amazing quality and fit

Written on Nov 19, 2020

Let's face it, when we're looking for a part that has anything to do with accuracy and consistency, we want top quality with perfect fit. That's what this rail/mount/base from EGW delivers. It fits my 2018 Savage Axis II like it was custom made for it- because it was!

I'm super pleased with the low tolerance tight fit of this rail. The price was good and the shipping from Optics Planet was fast!

Outstanding quality

After having this for a couple months now and using it in a couple matches I can say the quality- Clarity, brightness, precision, feel, look, function of this scope is flawless. I put this on a Daniel Defense DD5v1 with the Leupold one piece mount and when I went to zero it in the windage was dead-on! Didn't even need one tenth of a Mil windage. Only needed 2 Mil UP adjustment to get dead on at 50 yard zero.

The pinch-to-turn turrets are a must have for slung, run and gun stages.

The only reasons I did not give five stars:
1. With the M-TMR reticle, when at full power (8x) you can only see two Mils above/below the horizontal reticle line- so if you need to hold over more than two mils you MUST dial it in with the turrets. I cannot speak about the BDC reticle as I don't own that one.
2. The clicks in the turret need to have a more positive feel- weak clicks, a semi-"mushy" feel.

For me, awesome.

OK, I used these in a two-gun match this weekend where I used my suppressor on my AR-15. Conditions: it was 86 degrees and 82% humidity, mixed sun and clouds, 10mph wind. I used them from 9:30 AM to 1:30PM.

Firstly- they accomplished my first need, to stop the blow-back from the suppressor from reaching my eyes.
Secondly- They did not fog at all. I had the top vent all the way open. I do admit I am not a "sweat machine", but I do sweat and did get very hot. I highly recommend these. Several others running cans asked me about them and even commented that they saw no fog in them.

The only thing I can say negative about these is that the strap is entirely a rubber-plastic and was somewhat uncomfortable after 3 hours. I strap that is wider back by the ears and a softer elastic would be better I think.

Very bright and accurate

Written on Jan 06, 2015

I bought this for a rifle that is my new 2-gun rifle (DD MK18) I already own and have used the Burris Fullfield TAC 30 1-4x so this is an "upgrade". The finish and feel of the scope is perfect. Main difference is that the reticle on this 1-5x is smaller and thinner, which is better for longer ranges in my opinion, but a little slower on CQ target acquisition. Also, this has one more times the magnification.

Another big difference is the size and clarity of the eyepiece- this 1-5x is larger and brighter.

I mounted the scope with an inch-lbs. torque driver per the specs, with the upper in a vise which I leveled the upper, then aimed the scope at a Sharpie line I had made on the garage wall with a level. I then made sure the verticle reticle line lined up and then alternately torqued the scope down (I used the Burris PEPR mount). Then at the range I zeroed it in four shots (at 50 yds) It was initially off only 1 inch in elevation, about 4 inches to the left. After I got a tight group of 5 on target, I cranked up the elevation to check it- I had drawn a line on my IPSC target with a bubble level then used that on my AR on a sandbag. The hits climbed right up the line as expected per my Sierra Infinity Windows Phone app. I then set the dials to this new zero per the instructions, was easy and great to have the zero indicated, as the old scope did not have this feature. I've only shot it out to 300 so far, but the bright Mil "tree" reticle made it easy to repeat hits on a
