The balance between quality and weight is important

I would wax poetic, were it not for the fact that the outside (no doubt for weight concerns) feels so cheap. The focus & diopter adjustments feel chintsy & loosen easily. But the battery cap is worse. Be VERY delicate with these threads. And the headgear must be made for an adolescent... Some would say having the indicator lights in your field of view is a feature, but they are so bright (in the dark) that they are a bit of a distraction.
That said, the optics & weight, and especially the phosphor screen are the best I've ever seen for this generation night vision. If ever I break this, I'm buying another! If you have a smaller skull or no hair, or if it will be mostly hand held, this unit is fabulous. And definitely a strong buy, considering dollars spent per value of use.
