This is an updated version on an older light I have mounted on another rifle- so operation of the light is already ingrained. And that operation is notably simple. It comes on with your thumb when mounted on the side of a conventional fore-grip. I prefer this much more than lights with pads and wires or cables.
I volunteer as a Range Safety Officer which has me wearing a headset all day long. I bought the Supreme PRO-X when looking for something more comfortable than what I had. These were reasonably comfortable but you have a padded set of structural/support wires resting behind your neck AND an adjustable strap going over the top of your head. It's not necessarily a bad combination but for me personally it was not substantially better than a conventional setup, just different. With the neckband at top strap, these might be a better configuration for competition with running and shooting involved.
The sound attenuation was very good. Rifle shots were well-muffled but hearing normal conversation was no problem. I only got about 4 hours out of a fresh set of 2 AAA batteries but that was with a lot of shooting going on. The batteries might last much longer in relatively quiet woods. The gel ear cups were very comfortable- much better than foam-filled ones.
The box states that these are specifically designed for hunters.
This is the second batch of high velocity, light-weight defensive ammunition I've purchased. Although an expensive 'test,' It ran through my carry Glocks perfectly well. So, aside from acceptable performance (as demonstrated by sources I consider reliable) , anything which makes carrying a sidearm a bit easier is worth the cost to me.
...it takes longer to get into than I'd like. I ended up giving mine to my wife- where she stores her valuables when walking at the park.
This does its overall job well. It is definitely secure and a high-quality product. However, the two side latches are necessary to seal the unit for water resistance and more critically, these latches facilitate closing the box properly to ensure the lock engages. As such, if you wanted to get to a handgun rapidly, you'd need to enter the code (or use the optional biometric feature) to unlock the safe and then carefully fold back the latches to open it up. For me, that's too slow.
I'll end up buying a different, simpler product with faster access. I just don't need the waterproof construction.
...within reach, even if you're upside down, hanging by your seatbelt with the door jammed, bent and unable to be opened with the handle. Close your eyes and grab it by feel. Do you need some heavy-duty velcro on the kydex sheath for mounting it? Is there a convenient nook or cranny in the cabin where it will stay put during a rollover mishap? Remember, if it's behind your left knee normally then it (the tool) should be there if you're inverted. You get the idea...
I bought a second one for my daughter, too. She does a bit of off-roading.
