This brace fits nice and snug on the buffer tube with no rattle. The weight of it helps offset the rest of the gun. The fins don’t split at all like they do on the SBA3. I do wish that the strap was a little longer. I like that the QD point is farther forward. It helps keep the gun closer to your chest when running the sling mount on the opposite side of the brace.
This is a pretty nice light. Does everything it advertises. Its a good size for a 10.5in AR with a 9in handguard. I prefer this to the RM2 for defense because 1,000 lumens can be fairly disorienting when shined at a wall in the dark. 500 lumens is much more tolerable. There are only a few minor problems with this light. First is the rubber dust cover is pretty mediocre. It doesn’t fit snug so it can fall out. Also, I think the button sits a little too high off the rail if you’re using a picatinny rail section on mlok. It’s a kind of uncomfortable. Arisaka Defense makes a low profile pic rail section that should alleviate this.
For its price and quality of materials it’s hard to beat but there’s a few quirks. Both straps on the holder have be against a MOLLE strip or the tourniquet will be very difficult to remove. So you need 3 MOLLE strips and if you have 2 then you can only draw the TQ from one direction. It also requires backing for the MOLLE strips so it can’t be mounted to something like an AR500 laser cummerbund. I bought this to mount on the side of an HSGI Bleeder pouch and it works ok. I can retrieve it fairly quickly but I had to mount it low to be able to pull the TQ up and out since the pouch doesn’t have enough webbing to install it properly. Other than my lack of forethought it works great
The paddle on the bolt release is too small to fit a Magpul bad lever. The bolt catch also doesn’t travel up as far when the paddle is depressed compared to some other AR’s I’ve felt, but I don’t think this will be a problem, it still functions fine. Also, the MOE SL grip had to be tightened down significantly to not wiggle. I think it has something to do with the shorter screw, larger screw head with no washer, and Magpuls over-reliance on loctite. I’m still kind of worried about it backing out. Excluding the MOE SL grip, the problems are minor and the rest of the parts kit works just fine. I’d play it safe and get the kit with the standard MOE grip.
After I installed this, I noticed a strange resistance when inserting a magazine. I then discovered that the front of the trigger guard extends down too far and is hitting the tab on the back of the pmag. You can still fully insert and seat a magazine, but the front of the magazine is tilted upwards. This seems like it can easily lead to malfunctions. If you only have USGI mags then this product might work but any magazine with a protrusion on the back will likely interfere with this trigger guard. You win this time China
