Mine holds the shells so tight that it is worthless. I have tried multiple brands (all name brands) with the same outcome--it takes way too much force to remove the shells in a time of need AND way too much force for it to be useable for my wife or daughter under ANY circumstance.
The instructions are limited to basically, "bolt the thing on with provided bolts." There does not appear be any adjustment for retention.
