Sometimes less is more. After years of messing with different slings of all manufacturers, I found going back to the basics to be a wise choice. This is a simple, strong, functional sling. You can loop it through factory sling swivels or through quick releases, it has a lot of adjustment length, and is a fraction of the price of other “tactical” slings. This has become my favorite sling.
Great selector, which I would expect from Aero. Smooth, tactile, and functions very well. My only complaint is that the right side lever is the same length as the left. I have become accustomed to shorter levers on the right so my trigger finger isn’t in its way. May sound trivial, but it really is a thing. My next one will be a shorty on the right side.
I would not recommend this for your EDC. Cheap plastic body and lens, easily scratched and is a lint magnet. The button is in the worst place imaginable and impossible to use without leaving a fingerprint on the underside of the lens. The whole sight must be removed to change the battery. Mine will turn off randomly at the range and cannot be turned back on for about 10 minutes, even with a new battery. Worst pistol red dot I have ever used. Spend the couple dollars extra for a Holosun or RMR.
Lots of tooling marks in several areas, including the bottom of the carrier where it slides against the hammer. Using this BCG in a new build with a quality 16” barrel. Very first round failed to feed and jammed the round between the bolt face any front of the charging handle. Had to use a tool to push the bolt back to get the round out. Had not even fired a single round and was dealing with a significant failure. Once I got it running it experienced the same type of failure 3 additional times in 40 rounds. Will polish do some cleaning/polishing/lubing and try again. For reference, I used a bolt out of another rifle and had zero malfunctions.
When i first installed it I loved it. The idea of a cutout where my trigger finger rests when not in the trigger guard is very creative. Seemed very comfortable. The dislike came when I was at the range using the selector with my right hand. It's hard to pick up because of the low profile, and has uncomfortably sharp edges. Mechanically this selector is excellent and smooth operating. The cutout is a great idea, but just isn't practical. Better to have a short lever on the right side.
Glass is excellent. Mounted mine to a .308 and took it to the range to discover the dials make exactly one revolution and no more. I thought I had a problem with my scope and called Leupold customer service. Nope…turns out these are designed with minimal wind age and elevation adjustment to keep cost down, and are specifically intended for .223/5.56 AR rifles. This was far from clear when I bought the scope, and I felt a bit jilted. Still, I had an AR that needs glass and this works perfectly. Had I known more about the scope, I would not have purchased it to begin with. Considering there are much better options in this price range, I cannot recommend this scope.
