Incredible Bag with Room For Improvement
Written on Dec 31, 2024
Review for
First Tactical Specialist Backpack
I am upgrading from a Condor Outdoor Medium Assault Backpack 30L (SKU: 129-002). At twice the price of that bag, I was hesitant to pull the trigger on the Specialist, but I am soooo glad I did.
The primary use for this bag is extended day hikes and a bug out bag. My loadout changes often, and in order to compensate for the smaller size of the Condor bag, I had to add a bunch of molle pouches. Consequently, those pouches would snag on everything when I was moving the bag in and out of a vehicle, closet, or tent. Hated it as a positive, the Specialist is larger and yet less snag-able because I haven't added any additional pouches.
All of the zippers look and feel great. There's no binding and they're all smooth. The color of this bag is incredible, but not so OD Green as items I've bought in the past. It certainly doesn't match my seabag. It's more of a dark foliage green. Some might even say the popular "ranger green" that everyone is using now. Just keep that in mind if *exact* color matching is preferred.
Areas of Improvement:
**They gotta add hydration bladder access on new iterations. I can use my bladder, but it requires I port the tube out of the top with the zipper partially open. I've done this on other bags, so not an issue, but for this amount of coin, you kind of expect it. Even the Condor Outdoor bag I am comparing this to has 3 (three) ports for hydration.
**While it could be a sales tactic to get you to buy the waist belt, it really should be included for th
