Most Helpful Positive Review Front rest
I bought the Caldwell deluxe universal narrow bag to go with my Caldwell Rock BR competition shooting rest (P/N 440907). Attaching the bag to the rest is done by removing a few screws to get the other bag off and then reversing the process which is no big deal. If you needed to do this in the field ...

Most Helpful Negative Review wide front rest
Wish I could include a picture to show how bad this thing looks. It is useless. Looks nothing like the picture. Bought this to go with The Rock bench rest. The narrow front rest that came with The Rock looks and works fine. The wide rest is uneven to a point that it would make aiming more difficult....

Caldwell deluxe universal front rest bags

by Slim Tim, Verified Owner from SC, United States Written on May 23, 2024
Taking my two adult sons to the range, after the visit I had to replace the bags on both my Lead Sled, and my Rock Junior rest. I would like to point out. I had had these things for several years, and never had considered replacing parts. Kids. I was pleased to find them available at OpticsPlanet. Have since installed on both rests, and I am totally satisfied. Thank you, Caldwell/OpticsPlanet.

This is same bag that comes with Caldwell rock br I had to replace mine twice because picatinny rail catches it at times and wears holes and filling pours out last time I replaced it with one made of leather and filled with black sand much much better now

Performs well enough

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on July 29, 2010
These Caldwell bags are simple and effective. You could spend a lot more money and/or do a lot worse than these. I've read some reviews complaining that the bags come apart at the seams, which seems possible as the bags come over-filled to the point where they are almost bursting apart. What I did was just let out some of the filler so that the bag had more give and sat better in the rest. If you're just using the bag for the purpose it was designed for-range/bench use-then I don't see durability being too much of an issue. The gun stock sits in the bag, it should slide back and forth, and that's it. there is no need to touch the bag very much or throw it around like a bean bag. It should last, and so far I'm pleased with it.
Pros: affordable, easy to use, well-shaped
Cons: potential durability concerns

Caldwell Deluxe Universal Wide Front Rest Bag

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on March 7, 2010
I bought this bag for rimfire benchrest shooting at local clubs. It has done its job well. Have used several others since then and have seen no appreciable difference at my local club level. I am sure more experience shooters would tell you their better bags out their, but for my shooting this is great and priced right.
Pros: Well made
Cons: None found

Good front bag

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on November 18, 2008
All in all this is a great front bag. I paired it witht the Rock Jr. rest. It fits my old Savage Model 5 like it was made for it. It also works well with my HK SL8-6. It is a tad too narrow for it, but still provides a firm platform to shoot from. The only real downside of this bag as well as all the other front bags from Caldwell is that the velcro straps are not really secure and leave a little bit of play in the bag. I solved the problem with a nylon keeper from an old pitol belt and that worked fine. BY THE WAY IF YOU BOUGHT THE ROCK JR. REST IT COMES WITH THIS BAG DESPITE PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONS TO THE CONTRARY.
Pros: Great size for most rifles
Cons: Needs more secure strap downs
