Took the new Caldwell Lead Sled DFT to the range last week and it worked like a champ. I sighted in 2 AR's, a 22 and a bolt action 308. Item works great. Many adjustments to fit any gun. Would purchase again.

This is an awesome rest that really help you stay on target and stabilizes your rifle after the recoil.
If you like to see yourself shooting smaller groups then I recommend it very highly.
I have used and still own other rests but I am staying with this one from now on.

This product, for the most part, performs well. Parts are well constructed, with one exception which I will explain. I used it once now to sight in my precision rifle at 100 yards & it was spot on in short order. My only complaint has to do with a plastic key which is used in the elevation mechanism. It broke right away but I was able to make the elevation work fine without the cheapo plastic key. It seems Caldwell expects it to break since they provide you with a second spare key. With all this quality you would think they would use a metal key.

This is a great unit. Ive used it to sight in my 7mm mag. It really takes away the possible flinching and eventual sore arm when sighting in a large caliber gun. I didnt get the weight bags and felt i didnt need them. The adjustments work well. The instructions are a bit weak but searching i was able to make sure i had it together properly. This is a solid setup.

Purchased the lead sled recently and assembled it quickly and easily. I have several different rifles intended to use with the sled and the design accommodates them all well. I was a little surprised the forward rest did not have a feature to grab the rifle with a vise action, but the current design works well enough. All the other features and adjustments serve their purpose and are constructed rugged enough for this unit to last a long time without failure. I noticed you will need to fill the shot bags with less than 25 lbs. ea. to make them fit without having any trouble. 20 lbs. of shot worked well for me and offered the needed weight to offer proper stability. I am pleased with the unit overall and look forward to its' expected long life. Well worth the investment.

I'm rating it four stars, giving it the benefit of the doubt as I have not had an opportunity to use it yet. My biggest complaint is the instructions. The parts list discriptions did not all match the descriptions in the assembly instructions, especially when assembling the front cradle and elevation system. I'm still not sure I've gotten it assembled correctly, especially in relation to the position of the elevation screw. The other issue I've run into is my Adam/Arms AR quad rail won't fit into the front bag. Overall, seems to be well made except the cradle and front bag, for the cost I expected better quality.

Sled worked great to sight in my 338 lapua only took 3 shots. Recoil was next to none with 50# on it. The 2 track system will make this sled great for sighting AR/Aks or anything with a DBM. Anyone who wants to see just how well their rifle can shoot with removing as much human error as they can this is the way to go.

Would like to see a pistol mounted on. To see if is hard to zero or not:) Looking for a dual pistol or rifle rest. Have not found one yet. The product has caught my attention. Basing my opinion as a veteran of two wars Vietnam and Iraq

Assembly directions were easy to follow but there was no mention of oiling the bearing and other threaded parts. A little oil on these not only makes for smoother operation but also protects against rust. This is a great platform for sighting in a rifle and for shooting with all of the adjustments which can be made for elevation and windage.
Full 25 pound shot bags when inserted into the Caldwell bags will not fit under the rails. Pour half of the shot into a quart freezer bag, use duct tape to reinforce the zipper end and then insert this bag into another freezer bag and reinforce that bag's zipper end with duct tape. Then insert the freezer bag into the Caldwell bag. These 12.50 pound bags fit the tray perfectly and will slide under the rails. Or 2 Caldwell bags . . . each filled with 25 pounds of shot can be placed on the each side by positioning them on top of the trays by the rails. It seems that #9 lead shot works best in either application.
