Most Helpful Positive Review Common Problem
If you read a lot of reviews on this product you will see that a very common problem is that the clamp that holds the camera on the stand breaks almost immediately. I knew it before I ordered but thought that since this has been going on for years maybe Caldwell had fixed it by now. No they haven't....

hinge clamp failure

by RJ, Verified Owner from TN, United States Written on October 24, 2021
Like another buyer, my camera clamp hinge broke. It snapped on one side due to weak plastic. It snapped simply by squeezing the clamp on the second time I set it up to actually make use of it (the first time I set it up was just to check the function). I was still able to rig a quick fix and I used it at 800 yards without difficulty getting a connection. The camera has to be placed within about 5-7 feet of the target to get a clear picture of the shots. I set it up about 10-12 feet away due to concern about a stray round possibly hitting it when I knew I'd be returning it due to the broken hinge, and I didn't want to take the chance of not being able to return it. At 10-12' away, the image was grainy and shots were not always visible, but mostly were. The software allowing shot group sizing electronically is ok, but not great. It will only provide a rough estimate of shot group size in my experience with it. The range of the camera to the receiver at this price point is the reason why I went with it, and I'll probably give it one more chance by having my current one replaced with a new one, but I am nervous about how long it will last in the end.
Pros:
  • Range
Cons:
  • poor durability
