If you're looking for the most versatile, durable and practical gun vise- this is it. Tipton produced a gun vise with all the bells and whistles for the gun enthusiast and pro alike. The metal frame is sturdy and has four adjustable rubber feet making this a stable platform for table top or range use. It has two deep trays for keeping small parts, cleaning brushes, pins or even BCGs. They can easily be moved along the two rails that support the front and rear gun clamps as well as the vise block.
Most of the rest of the components are made of a sturdy polymer/plastic with supporting metal frames. This is a solid unit. Although my unit came partially assembled, this vise comes with an excellent manual and setup should be a breeze. This vise is really a multi-function unit that will satisfy the needs of rifle, handgun, shotgun, muzzle loaders, bullpens, and even your compound and crossbow owner. What make this vise so useful is it's modularity and versatility. The clamps are fully adjustable for height and grip and they slide along the rails to accommodate event small handguns. You can remove the trays (2) or just use one. Cleaning my AR-15 is simple and fast. The vise come equipped with Bolt Action Group (BCG) Service Station and hammer stop that allows you to insert the BCG into a bolt lug retaining rib for servicing. The bolt is held in place (hands free) which allows you to remove the the ejector roll pin in a snap. Use your tray to keep all the parts handy. Whats more, the vise block come with a useful hammer stop to protect the lower receiver while dry firing. I found that out after I bought the vise and was a real bonus feature. This gun vise can also be bolted to a table or used as a table top vise. This is really an awesome gun vise.
Just a final note, this is vise you can certainly pass on as heir-loom to kids or grand-kids but should you need service for any reason, return the unit to Battenfield Technology In., in Columbia, MO and NOT to store you bought it from. This manufacturer spent some time doing this vise RIGHT. This truly the only vise you'll ever need. I'm glad I got mine.
