This is my 2nd Caldwell bipod. The first one I bought 40 years ago for my 22-250. This one is for my 223. Great field bipod for hunting groundhogs. Spring loaded legs Deploy and retract easily. I installed a second sling stud so I can always have my bipod mounted.

This bi-pod is a piece of junk. I have the 13-23 inch model.
When the bi-pod is folded close to the stock on my Remington 700, the release buttons for the legs are up against the fore end....which with the slightest amount of handling causes the buttons to be released and lets the legs slide out of the compact position.
VERY poor design.
I don't need to be hiking and have to constantly push the legs back in because they're sliding out all the time.
This piece of scrap metal is going back to the store tomorrow.
A REAL DISAPPOINTMENT !!!!!

I bought the large one for my deer hunting gun but it never made it past the range. It was wobbly at first but when i finally got it somewhat stable the first shot made the tightening screw jump or slide over the raised sections and it would just not stay on again. Everytime i try to tighten it the bolt just slide off to the side. It seems to me that it is just too large for the components and with a heavy recoil round i say dont get it. I will only use a picatinny mount for this application.

I really cant seem to get this bipod to stay attached to the sling mount. It will stay attached for maybe 2 shots and then fall off. If you want it to be secure on the forearm you have to wrench the wimpy screw down and it looks like it will bend on me soon. I regret purchasing this product.

This does not match up to my Savage or my Thompson Center Venture 2. The "V" part is to wide and it moves around to much no matter how tight you get it.I have a cheaper bipod and is way better. I was looking to get one that had cant. I'm going to look at a Harris and see what they have.

I personally like this for my 6.5 creedmoor an shooting off a table I had bought the long ones an short ones and I see no real issue with the way they work only thing that could be improved in my opinion would be the springs in the legs could be a little stronger but over all works for what I need it to work for
Best Used for:
- Target shooting / hunting

I purchased the Caldwell XLA Bipod for use on my new James River Armory M14 Paratrooper. After installing a bipod mount on the rifle, I mounted the bipod and it fit perfectly. I like the swivel action that allows for uneven terrain. It functioned flawlessly at the range and I'm very pleased with overall fit, finish and quality. I highly recommend this bipod for budget concious shooters.

The Caldwell XLA in my opinion are the best, most reasonably priced bi-pod on the market. I have one of these on each one of my rifles. I use them for bench shooting, and they remove and reinstall very easily for hunting.

Had this pos 3 days tension clip busted, now the product is garbage. Sending it back!! Do not by this bi pod it is a joke!! Cheap, cheap, cheap! I put it on a ruger 10/22 shot about 45 rounds. Went to clean my rifle and took the bipod off and busted! My 10/22 only weighs a few pounds, stock 10/22 with light vortex 3-9 scope. I was not abusing it whatsoever! The materials used in this pos are less than paper thin! It was hilarious how poor quality this bipod is.

The Caldwell includes many features found on more expensive units and is a very good product for it's cost. I have Caldwell bipods on 2 other rifles and am very pleased with them. The pivot system provides for good shot selection without a lot of movement when in your hide.
