Great temperature control

by Tracy, from GA, United States Written on March 11, 2022
We haven't used it yet for cooking, but I did an unboxing and checked to make sure everything works. I bought this model for the fine temperature control it supposedly offers (high range and low range). We wanted a stove that would heat quickly on high but would not flicker out on low simmer like (the green stove). I cranked this stove up on high power and it sounded like a jet engine spooling up! It was actually a bit scary. I can see it going through a 1lb. canister of propane pretty quickly on high, but it would probably boil water faster than an electric range in the kitchen. Then I turned it to the lowest possible setting to see if the flame flickered out and it did not. So we should be able to simmer soups or keep food warm easily.

This stove weighs 12 lbs. so it is not meant for backpacking, but for car camping it should be amazing. I like the new windscreen design for this model better than the Everest 1as it locks in place and is much sturdier. In fact, everything about this stove seems sturdy: metal locks and hinges instead of plastic, heavy duty grate and coupling, and easy clean surface.

The cooking surface is massive for a camping stove. This actually looks like its big brothers that Camp Chef makes, but without the legs. Two 9" pans should fit on it even with the windscreen up and it has 2 independent burners.
Pros:
  • Quick setup
  • Great heat control range
  • Hevy duty construction
  • Large cooking surface
Cons:
  • Heavy
  • Large
Best Used for:
  • Car camping
  • Rv camping

Camp Chef does it again!

by RosenberryRealEstate, from ID, United States Written on January 11, 2022
I have owned a large 2-burner Camp Chef stove for several years but I wanted something a little more mobile and lightweight for those quick camping trips. The Everest 2 fits that bill perfectly! Excellent BTU output and heat control. I couldn't find anything else that truly was comparable.
Pros:
  • Size
  • BTU's
  • Heat control
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Car camping
  • weekend trip
