I am a semi-pro photographer and this is the second battery grip I have owned and shot with on a daily basis. Canon stepped up the game with this battery grip compared to the 7D battery grip. It just feels good in the hands. The design is elegant, the construction is very rugged and the battery cover for the camera actually mounts into the battery grip as if the battery grip was the camera for easy stowing even while the battery grip is installed and mounted to the camera so you can remove the extra weight of the grip at anytime. My only gripe is the placement of the multi-controller on the battery grip. The placement is awkward but it is functional and much better than not having it on the grip like with the 7D.
Pros: Rugged, ergonomic, reliable
Cons: Multi-controller placement is awkward and it is very sensitive
