Good buy for the buck - Carson Mini Aura NV-200 Digital 1x10mm Night Vision Pocket Monocular

If you don't want to shell out big bucks for a night vision device, this is a reasonable alternative. Don't expect great things though. It's small, very light weight, with a mediocre but relatively clear field of view. Although I would not rely on this for a critical self defense incident, it does allow you to see potential threats in the dark from a short distance.
Pros: Inexpensive, lightweight
Cons: Limited field of view, mediocre quality
