Most Helpful Positive Review Good Buy for the Buck
If you don't want to shell out big bucks for a night vision device, this is a reasonable alternative. Don't expect great things though. It's small, very light weight, with a mediocre but relatively clear field of view. Although I would not rely on this for a critical self defense incident, it doe...

Most Helpful Negative Review Big disappointment
Don't know if I had a lemon, but I returned this. Hurt my eyes -back-projecting illumination was like staring into a flashlight, wiped out night vision after a few seconds. Couldn't keep it to my eye long enough to fully adjust the focus. Did not perform for me outdoors, which was my intent. Did n...

Small, but mighty!

by CHRIS, from OK, United States Written on February 21, 2024
I was surprised initially about how small this is, quite a bit smaller than a pack of cigarettes. It works great, and the range seems to be longer than stated. With some moonlight, I could watch my dog wander around the back yard like it was day, and that was without the additional IR lighting. When focused, the image is sharp and clear. It is not military grade, and probably not hardened for rough use, but is certainly up to the task when you need to see in the dark and don't want/have a flashlight. This is a very useful little piece of kit, and well worth the money.
Pros:
  • Small, compact and clear optics
  • Intuitive controls
  • nicely made.
Cons:
  • Not ruggedized, but not expected to be
Best Used for:
  • observing an area inconspicuously
  • Observing wildlife

Carson NV-200

by Staceman, from TN, United States Written on September 25, 2021
Great little night scope for the money. Built in illuminator is powerful for it's size. Has 3 levels of built in IR. Illumination level comes on high level when powered. Surprising effective range about 75 yards with good resolution. IR lamp visible at front of unit faintly up to about 45 degrees from front of unit. Very compact and light weight and seems to be fairly well constructed. This would be great for observing wildlife in the yard at night and checking out the night without broadcasting your presence with a flashlight. Unit not very useful without the illuminator on. Overall I would say this is well worth the price.

Ok for what is is

by Firedog, from GA, United States Written on July 3, 2020
It uses an infrared red that can be seen by whatever your pointing it at. There is a lot of light flare if you are anywhere near any type of light source. In pitch black darkness it does a pretty good job out to about 150 feet.
Pros:
  • Price
Cons:
  • Detection
Best Used for:
  • For Fun

Tiny and light, but not terribly useful

by bmart, Verified Owner from NC, United States Written on June 30, 2020
We were really looking forward to this after reading reviews and talking to someone who has one. But when it came, we saw that quality was quite low and it was more of a toy. It worked with some batteries and not others, despite them all being new from the same package. It would be fun and cute for a kid, but not terrible useful for any adult tasks. Save your $ and get something further up the food chain.
Pros:
  • Small and light
Cons:
  • Low quality
Best Used for:
  • toy

Great little device!

by J sprad, Verified Owner from OH, United States Written on May 31, 2017
I had my expectations blown away with this little device. Of course, be realistic with what you are expecting from this device. I use it mostly to scan my property to see what my dogs are barking at and it really surprised me with the clarity. There were deer, literally, within 60 feet and I couldn't see them with the naked eye! But this little gem lights them right up and with amazingly good details! I am definitely going to find more uses for it knowing now what it can do though!
Definitely recommended for HUNTERS who want to try to sneak in undetected to their spots!
Pros:
  • small and compact. Clear optics. Ten yard parallax.
  • exceeds realistic expectations
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Hunters
  • descrete scanning of property

Powerful Optic

by Kerry, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on February 11, 2016
For an optic that was only $100, this little dude is one powerful optic. Haven't maxed out the batteries in this, but I have been using it out the wazoo since it came in the mail. No ghosting, no saturation when the lights are turned on, and most importantly it'll take a drop or five.

Carson NV-200 Mini Night Vision

by KY Guy, Verified Owner from KY, United States Written on January 12, 2016
This is a great little pocket night vision device. It is easy to setup and use. I like that it uses common size batteries. And you just can't beat the small size. For Indoors and at short ranges (30ft or less) this works great. I think this is due to the short range IR emitter built into it. But if you are looking for more long distance viewing, then I would look elsewhere.
Pros:
  • Small, Ease of use,
Cons:
  • short range

Inexpensive Night Vision

by Matt, from TX, United States Written on August 26, 2015
Hard to beat for $100. The night vision does not work without an IR light source, but its still pretty cool. I think it's made from a digital camera cmos sensor. When digital cameras first came out, they could initially see through thin clothing because it picked up light in the IR range. The fix for this was an IR filter. This device simply does not have the IR filter.
Pros:
  • cool factor
Cons:
  • short range
Best Used for:
  • entertainment

Night survelience

by Aleks, from VA, United States Written on August 25, 2015
Great for checking night time backyard disturbances. It can even use infrared sources from wireless security cameras. I do wish the focus was better. The small size is great for making it more accessible.
