I'm no expert, but these seem like good binoculars for the money. They are a little heavier than I anticipated, but I think they will be just what we wanted to go to Alaska. We have been practicing with them, and they are so much better than the old ones we currently have that I'm very happy with the purchase. I got a pair for me and a pair for my wife. I wanted inexpensive, but good binoculars. Waterproof and fog proof was required. There are several good ones out there that would fit the bill, but I decided on Carson based on what I learned about the company. One small complaint is that the case is too small. It is difficult to get the binoculars in and out, especially with the strap attached.
