First, lets be clear. I love knives. When I was a scout in the mid to late 40s, I couldn't wait to get my first boy scout hunting knife. I still have one from that period made by Marbles. I have various hunting and survival knives and also a "ton" of pocket knives, most of them made by Case (they make an astounding variety to choose from). The little knife I'm looking at right now is, oh, about half an inch shorter than the Case trapper and appreciably smaller in the other dimensions. It's much lighter in weight, too. What I'm trying to say is that you can comfortably carry it in your jeans pocket, or if you have one of those funny little pockets that people of today tend to wonder about (watch pocket) the little knife will fit quite easily in there where you don't have to dig around and separate it from your keys, change and whatever in the regular pocket. I like the knife. It's a comfortable size to use and to carry and if its comfortable to carry, it's also more likely that you will carry it and it will then be available if and when you need it. I'm not going to try to tell anyone how to use a pocket knife. If you want one, you already have ideas on how you will use it. Just remember, the knife you carry with you when the chips are down is much more important than the ones you leave at home. I learned that a long time ago in a far off and very cold place. On that occasion the knife was much larger, but this little Case knife would probably have served as well.
Pros:
  • beautfully made-high quality-joy to carry
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • whittling at 15 years of age.
