This 'accessory' should be included with the telescope. I got the CPC-800 as a gift and was so geeked and had to use it right away and *thud* no AC adapter. Just a car lighter adapter. That was awkward...

Fine power source so long as you're near an outlet

We bought this because the onboard battery compartment on our new Celestron NexStar 4SE wasn't working. We used it for a while but ended up buying the Celestron battery pack so as not to be limited to sites where we had access to electrical power. It's fine for what it is, but the battery pack is much more useful.

unlimited power!! (with a plug in)

I'm not traveling any where with this beast of a scope anyway. And I recharge batteries every time I use it. If I get too relaxed, the drive goes dead. Today is the first day with my scope plugged in. No worries about running out of juice! It's still cold out here at night tho'

A must have

Definitely get the adapter or buy the power pack, it will use AA batteries quick. Be careful when using adapter it can get caught around telescope tripod as it skews to far in either direction. If you have access to an electrical outlet, it's definitely the way to go.

Celestron AC Adapter

We have an RV, so we always have access to AC power. Don't have to worry about draining batteries, etc.

Hey, its an AC adapter, not a computer! It works. Cord could always be a little longer.

Pros: Inexpensive as opposed to replacing 8 batteries every four hours
