Dan H's Review of OpticsPlanet Exclusive Celestron TrailSeeker 20-60x80mm Spotting Scope w/TS Tripod & Smartphone Adapter
Optics quality is pretty good for price. There is a significant amount of Chromatic Abberations (purple outlining of objects or different colors. The real problem is that the optic was falling apart out of the box. Seriously. I would love to add pictures but I cannot. The front objective (everything forward of the tripod collar was sagging and falling off as I picked it up. The front objective is connected to the prism section via plastic threads, and the best part, they are not even the correct sizes. They knew this at the factory and just coated the threads in super glue. The really thin stuff as it just sat in the threads and didnt bond the two pieces together at all. If they were going to do a hack job, they could have at least Epoxied it. That would actually bonded the two pieces together and no one would have known. Even on sale at less than $300 for the kit. I feel deceived at best. I would opt for the cheapest Barksa I bought years ago over this. It might not have good glass but at least it doesnt fall apart.
Pros:
- Cheap
- Satisfactory glass
- Okay video tripod with fluid head ($35 worth at most)
Cons:
- Garbage design and construction.
Best Used for:
- Throwing away
- Being disappointed
- Gifting to someone you hate
