Not a good choice for smallbore. - Celestron Ultima 100 Spotting Scope 100mm w/ 22-66x Zoom Eyepiece, 52252

I had hoped to find a bargain in the Celestron Ultima 20-66x100 for a smallbore competition spotting scope, but I didn't. I need to be able to see and count bullet holes at 100 yards but the optics in this scope just aren't up to the task. At ten meters and 20 power, the image was crisp and clear, but any further and at any higher power I had to struggle to see. Additionally, you cannot purchase a better eyepiece for this scope (the eyepiece seems to be where most of the optical problems are). This scope is probably good for nature watching as long as you aren't expecting to take crisp photographs with it. It should be adequate for indoor shooting up to fifty feet. For outdoor target shooting you're going to need something quite a bit better. Not recommended for outdoor target shooting.
