We have been taking our spotting scope in Yellowstone for years. We share views w/ anyone nearby that would like to see animals(usually bears). Several years ago we stopped by a park ranger who was a wolf expert. He had a Swarovsky $2500+ telescope w/ an 80mm aperture fixed on a wolf over a mile away. People were viewing the wolf through his scope & ours they all commented that they could see the wolf much clearer in our scope because it let in more light. The key seems to be a bigger aperture lets in more light & produces a brighter image. For the money Celestron Ultima 100 is the best buy on the market. Make sure to get a quality tripod to mount your scope that is sturdy.

I had hoped to find a bargain in the Celestron Ultima 20-66x100 for a smallbore competition spotting scope, but I didn't. I need to be able to see and count bullet holes at 100 yards but the optics in this scope just aren't up to the task. At ten meters and 20 power, the image was crisp and clear, but any further and at any higher power I had to struggle to see. Additionally, you cannot purchase a better eyepiece for this scope (the eyepiece seems to be where most of the optical problems are). This scope is probably good for nature watching as long as you aren't expecting to take crisp photographs with it. It should be adequate for indoor shooting up to fifty feet. For outdoor target shooting you're going to need something quite a bit better. Not recommended for outdoor target shooting.

ordered this to use for bench rest shooting out to 500.
seems to be well made, sturdy and heavy. I found the clarity and sharpness
not to be as expected. I have opted to return and spend the money on a higher end
optic. Only complaint was with the shipping. Took longer than expected even with the
holidays. would recommend for most uses except long range shooting

Bought and sent back 6 previouse spotting scopes trying to achieve a visiual of 308 cal. holes out to 500yds on splatter targets for under 450.00 dollors. This scope absolutly performs that task. Spent about 379.00 including tripod. Have used several times at range dose not disappoint. Just came back today observing my hits at 400 yds 308 cal. in pretty heavy rain at about 35 power fine focus. Stay around mid power at this range and im sure you will be quite pleased. It is a very heavy scope dont scrimp on a cheap tripod. I didnt but I should have went bigger/stronger. YOU can find the scope very reasonable. Celestron Ultima 100 Model 52252 22x-66x power. If I sound like a salesmen remember I sent back 6 previouse scopes to find what I neeeded.Had I had between 1000.00 and 1500.00 dollors I would have tried the Bushnell Elite 30x-90x-100 but I dont. This scope rocks especialy for the price. well made too.

This $600 scope that I picked up by stacking coupons at Optics-Planet is better then 99% of the scopes priced 3 times higher, and unless I’m going to spend that $3,000 on a Kiowa , this will do fine. 100MM is large and heavy so you will need a substantial tripod and I can honestly say this scope picks up regular targets at 500 yards on .22 LR (my rifles on Ely ammo shoot that far), and /223/5.56 hits as well as .308 targets at 500 yards with no problems, and reactive targets picked up 40% more in range. Yes, I love Vortex for the guarantee and Leopold for the name, but this deal could not be passed up, and you would have to be crazy to pass it up at any price below $450. Clear fields even until low light and the best deal you will ever find for the money period.
Pros; Great Optics without high costs and uses the Vanguard VS-86 tripod bench scope with no problem.
Cons: Heavy and does not come with a hard case, + I wish I would have bought 2 of them at this price.

I bought this because I wanted a good scope for looking at wildlife. This scope is not like a $2000 scope but it is far better than most in this price range that I have seen. It is quite clear and with a little patients I am able to view on high power. The picture is a little less clear as you reach the highest setting. It is very heavy though so you must be aware of that I have tried several tripods you really need a fairly beefy tripod for this scope.

Nice scope. Targets are crisp and clear. We use 5 of the Celestron scopes with our Youth High Power Service Rifle Team 80mm. I bought this 100 mm to use while the youths are shooting for adjustment advice on sights while coaching.

Is very heavy, quality made.
Very large.
Deserves a hard case instead of included soft bag.

Guys at the gun club loved my spotting scope. They asked me where I got it, how much it cost, and even wrote down the make, model, and website (OpticsPlanet.com) where they could get one. They commented that they could see "everything" with it. High praise since I just met these guys as my membership was less than 3 hours old. No way were they blowing smoke just to support a buddy! In addition, I spotted three of Jupiter's moons with it
Pros: Easy to use and set up, bullet hole at 100 yards were easy to see.
Cons: Image at full power not quite as bright as I would like.
