Most Helpful Positive Review BruceP
I was able to see .22 cal bullet holes at 200 yds. I was a little disapointed in the lack of sharpness above 40X and lack of contrast overall though. From 20-30X it is sharp & is usable up to 40x if heat is not a problem. I would still rate it good for the price
Most Helpful Negative Review Not nearly as good as the reviews would lead you to believe.
I expected more from this scope after reading the reviews and the best rating. The clarity is not very good and the eye relief leaves you fishing for the proper placement to even be able to use the scope. As I am disappointed in both the clarity and the eye relief, I Will be returning this for a b...

Great Spotting Scope for the money

by edteach, from FL, United States Written on June 19, 2017
You can spend over a grand on a scope if you so desire. I had a Simmons that would not see 223 at 100 yards. I sold it and bought this one. Seemed to have good reviews. I can easily see 223 at 200 yards no problem. If you want photo quality sharpness at 500 yards then go spend a grand. I can not say how it preforms past 200 yards as we don't have anything longer at any range nearby. But out to 200yds it is great. Even if you don't use shootnc targets you can see 223 on paper. Don't let the people who want to over spend just so they can say how much their glass cost at the range. A fool and their money.
Pros:
  • Good optics for the money
Cons:
  • Non I know of
Best Used for:
  • Bird watching
  • Spotting targets
  • Anything you want to see out to a few hundred yards maybe more.

It is not bad for the price.

by Vadim, Verified Owner from NJ, United States Written on July 19, 2016
It is good for the price, but the chromatic aberration will kill you on higher magnification. I tried to use it for targets on 300 yards and it worked well for targets like big Birchwood Casey Shoot'N'See, but did not work for others. I guess it is good for the price, but I want something better, so I returned it back.

Very nice scope for target shooting.

by RJ, from OH, United States Written on September 27, 2015
1st spotting scope I ever owed. So I really can't compare to anything. But the scope is clear, and for 200 yd. shots. Works great. I will be shooting 300 and 400 yards. But reading other reviews, I think I'll be happy.
Pros:
  • very clear image
Cons:
  • None.
Best Used for:
  • Target/ Range

Celestron ltima 80

by Jim, from MA, United States Written on September 9, 2014
I retuned a much lesser priced spotting scope for the Celestron Ultima 80 and am very, very pleased. The image bright and very sharp from the 20 x right to the 60x with no detectable loss of light. I have looked through scopes costing small fortunes and did not see any better (to my eyes) than through this scope. Can't say enough. Easy to operate and looks well made.
Pros:
  • bright abd sharp
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Birding

Better than I had hoped

by Legacy Reviewer, from WA, United States Written on January 26, 2014
This is my second attempt to get a usable spotting scope without having to mortgage the ranch. I was very pleasantly surprised. I bought a "good" window mount and I have no problems resolving 223 holes at 200 yards on high power. My last one was so dark at high power you couldn't resolve at 100 yards. I recommend it.
Pros: Clear with good light transmission
Cons: Tripod is a waste of time

Great scope

by Legacy Reviewer, from TX, United States Written on May 29, 2011
I took the scope out to help sight in my Mini-14. At 100 yards, the scope was so clear I could see the outline of the pasties on the target. The 0.223 holes were easily visible.
Pros: Crystal clear at mid ranges
Cons: Slightly blurred at highest magnification

Best Low Price Spotting Scope

by Legacy Reviewer, from WA, United States Written on February 7, 2011
For a low end spotting scope this is the best one I have used. I bought this primarily for range and field target use as well as a scope to carry in my truck during Antelope season where you are not forced to pack it around. If your looking for a compact lightweight pack optic THIS IS NOT IT as it is large and bulky.

While it certainly can not compare to the high end spotting scopes, I find it very usable to 500 yds on any of the new splatter type targets that turn color upon impact, and 300yds on standard paper.
Pros: Clarity, Eyepiece, Focus Adjustment
Cons: Size

is easy to use. can see clearly at 60x. use it for a spotting scope in field archery... was very inpressed with the clarity in all magnifications.. like the lifetime warrenty..
cons a few
1 the case zipper broke after 10 uses
2- the front lens cover comes off easily and is often loose in the cover..
Pros: clear view , nice magnification,
Cons: zipper on the case broke after 10 uses.....

Celestron Ultima 80 Spotting Scope 52250

by Legacy Reviewer, from WA, United States Written on March 11, 2010
A good scope for the money. I use it for long range shooting up to 1000 yards. I can see bullet holes in a target up to 300 yards out. I can clearly see the bullet markers at 1000 yards. Not the best, but darn good.
Pros: Very clear up to about 40-50 power
Cons: front heavy, a little fuzzy at 60 power.
