One of the first things you should do
Is dump the troublesome unreliable shepherds hook. Better than the non fitting clumsy Tapco plate. I was hoping for something a little better though, I mean they work just fine, but I would still give the nod to Red Star over these. These seem to be just plain stamped steel where the red star are thinner spring steel and lock on to the hammer pin. A worthy second choice.
Must have for any AK
The wire hook retainers suck, these plates help sooooo much when reassembling the fcg. As cheap as these are you would figure they would all come with one by now. But only time will tell how well it holds up.

File to fit paint to match
I purchased this item and it came in the mail once I attempted to install the eye hole intended for the safety connection, the plate was off center of the hike by a large margin, I had to file down some of the material to get the plate to work. The fitment seems to work now but doesn’t make as much contact with the trigger pin as I would like.

Fits perfectly
I just installed this on my AMD65 and it fits perfectly. Holds everything better then the stock Shepard’s clip/hook that is standard on most AK receivers. I would recommend that if you have an AK or AKM pattern rifle that you replace the stock hook/clip and install this.
