Champion electronic earmuffs - Champion Traps and Targets Ear Muffs - Electronic

I have only used these electronic earmuffs a dozen times when I've gone to the indoor range. I keep them safely in my gun case at all other times. Because the gun club across the road is using the range this evening, I decided to get these earmuffs out and put them on. When I turned them on, I found the batteries were dead; I could not hear normal conversation as I usually can with them on. So I went to change the batteries and I'm having difficulty in putting the battery covers back on. I still have not gotten them back on. When I picked the earmuffs up to put them on again, I noticed a hole in one of the black vinyl buffers, revealing the foam underneath. I surely expected better out of a $40 pair of shooter's earmuffs!
Pros: Individually adjustable for each ear.
Cons: There's a hole in the vinyl on one side already and the battery covers are difficult to re-engage.
