Choate tool mini 14 ventilated handguard - Choate Tool Mini 14 Ventilated Handguard

I wanted to love this hand guard and have had good experiences with Choate products in the past. I'm sure this will work great for thin barrel (older) Mini's but it doesn't come close to fitting my 584 series. It also came fairly scuffed up which doesn't affect the fit of it but still... total bummer. Unsure if I should return it or try using my Dremel to see if I can "make" it fit as I would really like to have this on my rifle. The ventilation holes are much larger than the issued guard and looks better in my opinion.
