This magazine extension is very easy to install. The follower did need a notch cut into it however. Some Remington 870's have an indent in the magazine tube designed to keep the magazine spring retained. It is held in place by the indentation in the tube on later 870's. You remove the factory retainer by rotating it so the notch on the factory retainer aligns with the indentation in the tube using a screwdriver. Then cut a small notch into the replacement magazine follower. Insert the replacement follower with the flat side towards the action. Then install the spring and extension tube. Attach the sling attachment/tube stabilizer and you are done@
