I've been carrying a savage 12fv .223rem bull barrel for almost 30 years now. Normal everyday set up,nice optic, Harris style bipod ,good leather sling. I use it for coyote and ground hog over hay fields in southeast Ohio most shots 300yd and under with occasional longer if terrain allows. Rifle with factory stock= sighted in at 100yd with 1/8 MOA scope, bipod, prone, cheap ammo Wolf 55gr fmj . Result was 3 rounds covered by a quarter .standing off hand shooting 100yd at pop can .Result 2 of 5 hit with first round. Gun was very barrel heavy and not balanced well for standing shots. WOW!! dropped receiver and barrel in, torqued to spec. Same bipod and sling. Now 100yd prone Wolf 55gr fmj. Result 3 rounds cover by a dime with most holes touching even more impressive is this was done by myself and another shooter AWESOME improvement. Off hand standing HOLY woohoo 100yd at pop can ,I shot 3 for 5 other shorter 4 for 5 . The pistol grip and balance is unreal, all the barrel heavy is gone the gun falls into the shoulder and stays flat, very comfortable. Sling mounts could not be better. Muzzle back up, gun lays on its side and flat against the body never been easier to carry SH...
