The binoculars are very nice. The optics are great, and as you would expect are heavy. A sturdy stand is needed. The stand that is shown with the binoculars is a sturdy stand and holds the binoculars well, the problem with the stand, it's to short. I am only 5'9" tall and this stand is to short for me. Might be find for a person 5.0 ft tall or shorter.

I bought this set-up to supplement hand held 10x50 binoculars for nighttime sky gazing without the hassle of setting up and aligning a telescope. Use of the tripod to stabilize the viewing image is a must because these binoculars are HEAVY. With a little planning (sit between two legs with third leg of tripod away from you) and a low lawn chair (adjust leg lengthens to get angle and height right) extended viewing time is possible. Of course a parallelogram mount would be best, but...$$$. So this set-up fits the niche somewhere between portability and ease of use of handheld binoculars and a full telescope set-up involving alignment, etc...

First use was a detailed viewing of the Moon, Mars, Saturn (faint rings?) and Jupiter (and moons). All were well within the abilities of these binoculars even in light polluted inner city Houston. No issues with quality of the optics (at least with my eyes) or clarity of the image (sharp and clear images of the moons smaller craters / features) .

The acid test will be next week when I get a chance to get out into the countryside / dark night. Hoping to view the Moon, Saturn, Mars, and Jupiter, in greater detail and whatever deep space objects I can find. I’ll provide update.

When the bino's and tripod arrived they were packaged well and there was no observable physical damage. Everything looked good!

I purchased the binoculars with hope of learning the stars/planets in the night sky. First, let me say the tripod is pretty much useless unless the object you want to view is not more that 15 degrees above the horizon. To locate the north star, I had to knell down (sitting in a chair or bending over to look through the bingo's was not an option) to see the object.

When I looked at the moon the chromatic aberration (CA) was intense. There was an extreme green/blue ring around the moon and I could not get rid of it. Furthermore, the optics on the right side of bino's were not nearly as clear as the left side. You could close you right eye, view the moon and then close your left eye and see the difference in the clarity.

I did some more research and found other people had the same problem with their bino's. They returned the product and received a replacement and the bino's worked fine. Some people had to return the product more than once to get a satisfactory pair of Skymaster's.

This is a very huge pair of binocular. It is over 4kg inweight making it not portable, but view is excellent especially for deeps space object and moon. If you have the extra penny to spend, this is the perfect pair of binocular for your light bucket obsession. View of deep space object are amazing, best pair of binocular I have seen

I bought mine used for a decent price. They weight almost 10 lbs soo you need a husky tripod. Would have preferred central focus instead of individual. Nice carrying case.
