Most Helpful Positive Review BANG for your buck
Quick swap, easy install, same AR rifle, money saver in the long run. Instead of hauling another dedicated 22lr rifle, you can bring this along with your AR15 swap out the BCG and VIOLA you're good to go. Go from pew pew to plink plink with the same rifle you're already use to. Great to train with a...

Most Helpful Negative Review CMMG 22 LR 25 round magazine poor fit and function
I purchased 2 25 round CMMG magazines for my 22 conversion. The magazines are a little more than 1mm smaller than a standard MAGPUL magazine and have a very sloppy fit that makes them almost unusable. Because the magazine is so loose, it has constant misfires when the magazine is not exactly in li...

CMMG LH BCG / CHROME

by M, Verified Owner from GA, United States Written on May 3, 2025
@ $173 for LH BCG and low round magazine. This BCG coller is for 223/5.56 AR barrel. This will not work with a dedicated AR 22LR barrel you will have to get a different coller. The low round mag that comes with this kit can be modified to accept more rounds by removing dowel pin embedded in plastic but this would also void any warranty. Once again Optics Planet comes through with what I was looking for at a fair price and quick delivery.
Pros:
  • fair price and good quality
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Caliber conversion

Makes for a complete Lefty AR build

by MGood, from CA, United States Written on May 1, 2022
This 22lr conversion works well with my left handed AR build on a Stag upper receiver. The unit itself has a solid feel , and the CMMG .22 AR magazines are the best that I've seen. The unit is of better quality than the older Ceiner unit that I own. It has been reliable with all the .22 lr brands of ammo that I've tried, and the savings in ammo cost will easily pay for this unit. I just wish that it had 30 round magazines, but the 10 round magazines are fine. The price was lower than the other few venders who had this item. Every left hand AR15 user should have this unit.
Pros:
  • reilable and well built
Cons:
  • no 30 round magazine
Best Used for:
  • Low cost practice
  • low cost practice

Too Many Problems!

by JohnSuburban, from MA, United States Written on April 10, 2021
I bought this kit because of all the positive reviews, but was very dissapointed. My first issue was trying to fully load the mags. I contacted CMMG and asked why I could only get about 10 - 12 rounds in before they would jam. I was told to take the mags apart and sand down the high spots, which I did. After sanding and greasing it that helped, but I still had problems loading hollow points. I ask about the different ammo I was trying to use and was told they would all work. Then when I got to the rangs using LRN 1075 FPS ammo only, I had many FTF's and light strikes. I did find a 1225 FPS ammo that worked, but the round would drop about 2-3 inches @ 50 yards. My AR15 has an Anderson Arms lower with a mil-spec trigger.
Pros:
  • None at this time
Cons:
  • Unrelaible

Slamfire Junk

by johnnyraff, Verified Owner from NJ, United States Written on August 8, 2020
Ive put over 400 rounds through it and Ive had nothing but problems. It slamfires all the time and shot off as many as 5 rounds on one trigger pull, also must have hit another round coming out of the barrell because there was lead in my muzzle device. Tried it on 2 AR's both stock and same issue. Sometimes you can get a mag off without a malfunction but most likely not. Ive tried a bunch of different ammo same result.
Pros:
  • Junk
Cons:
  • Junk
Best Used for:
  • trash

Awsome conversion kit

by Jesus Alcala, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on July 20, 2020
Was worried this was going to be picky on what type of .22LR ammo you use in it, but so far it’s shot everything from cheap steel ammo all the way up to the good stuff with little to no hiccups. Would recommend it to anyone looking to save some money on ammo you can use in your AR.

Amazing product

by Justin Martin, Verified Owner from OR, United States Written on July 14, 2020
This thing is sweet! It swaps in seconds and is fun to shoot. My daughter and i took it out for the first time yesterday. we put about 100rds through it, ran flawlessly every time. My daughter who just turned 8 always just had a marlin single shot that i passed down her a few years ago. She liked shooting it but i felt like she was getting Bored so when i had her shoot this. She had a grin from ear to ear asking if she can still shoot it. Im like i brought 100 rds lets have fun. Now im gonna have to start buying 22lr bulk for us. Its good training too. 4-6 cents per round is much better then 31+ cents per round compared to 223/556. So this will pay for itself very fast when 100 22lr is $6 and 100 223/556 is $36 and its the exact same gun, trigger, accessories, weight, feel just lighter recoil of course
Pros:
  • reliable
  • fast
  • Easy to swap
  • Will pay for itself fast, then it will save you money
Cons:
  • None this is worth every penny!
Best Used for:
  • hunting
  • Training
  • Teaching kids and new shooters
  • Plinking & fun

Easy install and flawless operation

by DaveyB, from CA, United States Written on March 25, 2020
My local indoor range only allows pistol calibers and rimfires so I bought this conversion kit for a new AR I built. It worked flawlessly through 300 rounds of various ammo (CCI, Winchester, Federal). I had no light strikes or stovepipes at all. I got my best groups with CCI. My AR is an Anderson lower, PSA M4 carbine upper and a PSA parts kit. This is a great conversion and I am happy I bought it!

Works as advertised

by Papa Pistolas, from CA, United States Written on March 8, 2020
This is a great product, hands down a fun investment. Make sure it is well lubed before using for max efficiency. I had only two light ejections out of 550 bulk rounds which is an ammo issue more than the kit. Even then that is amazing as far as reliability with bulk ammo goes.
Pros:
  • Saves me money
  • Super fun
  • Gives me more time to practice on my main AR platform.
Cons:
  • I didn't buy two
Best Used for:
  • fun
  • target practice

Failures to feed, light primer strikes...

by Anthony, from NJ, United States Written on February 24, 2020
Have tried this kit in two different uppers, two different lowers with different length gas systems and buffer weights, different barrel lengths, different ammo - even the nicer CCI high velocity stuff. The most reliable I can get this conversion to is 3-4 shots without a failure. The first round almost always fails to properly pick up from the magazine and go all the way into battery. Maybe I got a dud, but I’ve been trying everything with this kit for months and it’s only been good to me for training clearing malfunctions.
Pros:
  • Accurate
Cons:
  • Not reliable
