MOSOSODBOB's Review of CMMG 22LR Mk4 Barrel Kits w/ Bolt Group

I own and use a custom build dedicated AR .22 built using a Ciener/Atchisson conversion kit for over 15 years now. The kit was made by the now defunct Jonathan Ciener, Inc. The CCMG kit is far superior by engineering and manufacturing than the Ciener used in my custom rifle. Cost way less as well. What sets this apart from the earlier generations of conversion units? I was able to do all the "gunsmithing" myself. This kit made it possible.

I purchased this kit to have another dedicated .22LR AR upper. This kit was installed onto a mil-spec M-4 upper receiver from Bravo Company USA, Inc. I completed the upper using the RKM11 Handguard and charging handle assembly by CCMG.

If you have a good understanding of AR assembling procedures, techniques, and the proper tools, you can put this together. The instruction sheet was clear and easily understood. I also contacted CCMG's tech section and they provided good recommendations for tools needed. (I used the new Magpul wrench)

Fit and function of my completed kit was flawless. I also own a CCMG factory completed .22 upper. The performance of my assembled kit mirrored what I experienced with the factory completed upper. Accuracy seems as good as my custom made gun (with non-target ammo). Will update my review when I get more range time with it. However, it is accurate enough for my varmint hunting scenario.

Last but not least, Optics Planet had the best prices for CCMG and Magpul products.
Pros:
  • Quality materials/workmanship
  • Well engineered
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Varmint Hunting
  • Training/casual shooting
Would Recommend: Yes
