Good set up for the money

by MajMT, from GA, United States Written on February 10, 2020
Very pleased. I purchased mine for my first build, in .300 going for a "CAR-15" look with a brace; on an A-2 style upper. The triangular handguard end cap is sort of weird but the handguards I used fit perfectly. Unless you alter the configuration, carbine length handguards will not fit. I used a CAVALRY MANUFACTURING Inc AR-15 C6-style MID-LENGTH HANDGUARD ordered direct from CMI. You can also get them from Brownells (100-002-828WB C6 Mid-Length, Black). Since building I have over 800 rounds through this barrel and at 100 yards, unscoped shooting off a rest, pretty much keep every round in a 6" black zone. Put a cheap 4x scope on and I can shoot the same at 200 yards. Pistol length gas seems to like the cheap PPU 124gr FMJ rounds I have been using and puts the brass in a nice pile at the 4:00 position about 6 feet away.

Triangle handguard cap

by Not happy, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on October 12, 2019
Expert answer says carbine length handguard fits, It's a midlength handguard Mr expert. But that's not a problem. The problem is mine came with a triangle handguard end cap. Really! Why would anyone use a triangle handguard end cap. That's just ignorant. Now I have to either send it back or modify it myself. I have two midlength handguards and neither fit
