Dan's Review of CMMG F Marked Front Sight Base Assembly, AR15
I am usually good about reading reviews but it looked simple enough. As mentioned there is no way to "fasten" the block to the barrel without taking it to a machine shop, sort of defeats the price point. Overall construction is good and solid but I think CMMG could have taken the extra step to add set screw(s) to finish the deal, which is what I have on all of the other gas blocks I have purchased.
On a side note there is a small un-tapped hole under the sling loop that look like a good place for a set screw. So I removed the sling loop and I tried to tap it (I'm usually pretty good with things like that) but I broke the tap and effectively ruin the piece and my tap.
I would be cautious to the novice on this item unless you have access to a good machine shop. Do a little more research and spend the money to find one that is a bit more user friendly.
