If you buy a 9mm barrel that has 1/2 x 28 then you just cut your selection of muzzle devices in half which obviously means you're going to pay more. This does nothing as far as recoil management and is used strictly to protect the threads. I do like the spikes for alittle extra protection for the barrel..they're very subtle nothing crazy. If your barrel isn't standard thickness then this will b larger than the barrel
